Playback settings

Streaming player

Used streaming player library. Depending on this selection, some of the below settings might not be available. Default: VLC

Streaming player (Live Channels)

Used for playback in Google Live Channels Apps. Only available on Android TV devices with Google Live Channels App installed. Default: VLC

Hardware acceleration (Only for VLC)

Default: Auto

Network buffer

Network buffer time. If you increase this value, the streaming starts slower, but could be more stable for bad connections. Default (cable): 500ms, Default (wifi): 1000ms

Default display mode

Set the playback display to a defined resolution and refresh rate. Only available resolutions are selectable. Depens on TV hardware. Default: Disabled

Auto resolution

Changes the playback resolution to the media resolution. Default: Change if higher

Auto refresh

Changes refresh rate depending on media source. Default: Disabled

Aspect ratio

Changes the aspect ratio of media displayed on screen. Default: Auto

Tunneled playback (Only for Exoplayer)

Uses tunneled playback and optimizes video/audio sync. Default: Off

Black screen on zap

Changes the picture to a black screen when changing programs. On some devices this is always the case. Default: Off

Picture in Picture: PiP position

Where the PiP mini window is displayed. Note: Picture in Picture is not available on some devices. Default: Bottom right

Picture in Picture: PiP window size

Size of PiP window. Default: Normal

Picture in Picture: PiP border

Border of PiP window from the edge of screen. Default: 50

Picture in Picture: PiP decoder

Decoder used for PiP. Only change if PiP is not working as expected. PiP requires at least two free tuners. Default: Auto

MPEG2: Playback type (Only for VLC)

Most SD streams use MPEG2. If you choose image quality, a software decoder is used which uses antialiasing and deinterlacing. Choose Performance to disable this and use hardware-acceleration. Default: Image quality.

MPEG2: Enable deinterlacing (Only for VLC)

Most SD streams use MPEG2. If you enable deinterlacing, the picture could look better. Default: Off.

MPEG2: Deinterlacing (Only for VLC)

If you enable deinterlacing, you can select the type of deinterlacing applied. Default: Auto.

Expert settings: Chroma (Only for VLC)

Default: YUV.

Expert settings: Deblocking (Only for VLC)

Default: Auto.

Expert settings: Open GL (Only for VLC)

Default: Auto.

Expert settings: Skip frames (Only for VLC)

Default: On.

Audio settings

Digital surround passthrough

If supported, digital surround channels (e.g. AC3, DTS) are passed through to your HiFi system to decode it. Default: On

FFmpeg audio decoder (Only for ExoPlayer)

Uses FFmepg audio decoder.  Default: On

Avoid narrated tracks

Skips audio tracks which are declared as narrated / described.  Default: On

Audio device (Only for VLC)

Default: System default

Default audio language

Selects the audio track based on the selected language (if available). Default: Auto

Audio delay (Only for VLC)

If video and audio are not in sync, change this value. Default: -125ms (can be a different value depending on your device)

Audio delay (AC3) (Only for VLC)

If video and audio (AC3 track) are not in sync, change this value, this can differ from the Stereo audio delay. Default: -125ms (can be a different value depending on your device)

Default volume

Volume to set when you start a stream the first time. Audio volume can be changed within the app. Default: 10

Prefer AC3 if available

If an AC3 track is available, it can be used if enabled. Default: Off

Always show subtitles

If subtitles are available and this is enabled, they are displayed when you start the stream. Default: Off

Prefer DVB subtitles (Only for VLC)

There are two types of subtitles: DVB and Teletext based subtitles. If you prefer DVB subtitles, enable this option. Default: Off

Default subtitle language

Language to use when the option 'Always show subtitles' is enabled. Default: Auto

Teletext subtitle color (Only for VLC)

Default: White

Teletext subtitle bold (Only for VLC)

Default: Off

Teletext subtitle background (Only for VLC)

Default: On

Stretch audio (Only for VLC)

Default: Off

Audio resampler (Only for VLC)

Default: Auto.

Recording settings

Show details before stream

When you click on a recording, it displays a summary and you can click stream to start it. If you disable this option, the recording is played immediately when selected. Default: On

Download location

Location where downloads should be saved on your Android TV device. Requires permissions to your storage. On most devices you can attach a USB-Stick or harddrive. On some devices you need an OTG-adapter to connect an USB device (e.g. on Fire TV). Fire TV devices only support FAT32 formatted devices.

FAT32 filesize downloads

If your storage devices is FAT32 formatted, the downloads are splitted accordingly. This option is required if you are using FAT32 formatted drives (e.g. on Fire TV). Default: On

Download from internet

You can download movie files from internet locations. This button shows a URL where you can paste the download URL and the app downloads it to your device.

Manage recording paths

Opens a dialog where you can select your recording paths. The app displays all recording paths for available recordings.

Enable timeshift

Shows a pause button in Live TV and enables timeshift when Pause is clicked. Default: On

Timeshift location

Location where timeshift data should be saved on your Android TV device. Requires permissions to your storage. On most devices you can attach a USB-Stick or harddrive. On some devices you need an OTG-adapter to connect an USB device (e.g. on Fire TV). Fire TV devices only support FAT32 formatted devices.

FAT32 filesize timeshift

If your storage devices is FAT32 formatted, the timeshift files are splitted accordingly. This option is required if you are using FAT32 formatted drives (e.g. on Fire TV). Default: On

Timer: Pre-time

Time to substract for new added timers. Default: 2 minutes

Timer: Post-time

Time to add for new added timers. Default: 7 minutes

Remote control: Skip seconds (left/right button)

Time to skip when left/right button is clicked while playing a recording. Default: 30 seconds

Remote control: Skip seconds (Button 1 + 3)

Time to skip when button 1 (prev) or 3 (forward)  is clicked while playing a recording. Requires a remote control with number keys. Default: 30 seconds

Remote control: Skip seconds (Button 4 + 6)

Time to skip when button 4 (prev) or 6 (forward)  is clicked while playing a recording. Requires a remote control with number keys. Default: 60 seconds

Remote control: Skip seconds (Button 7 + 9)

Time to skip when button 7 (prev) or 9 (forward)  is clicked while playing a recording. Requires a remote control with number keys. Default: 300 seconds

View settings

Theme

Select different color themes. Default: Blue

Show subdirectories separately

Recording directorie hierarchies are displayed in one row. If you enable this option, each directory is displayed in a separate row. Default: Off

Show cover

Shows and downloads cover pictures if available on the receiver for a recording. Default: Off

Show tuner state

Shows up to 4 tuners and their current state in the bottom right corner. Default: On

Show timer

Shows a row with active/planned/finished recording timers. Default: On

Show downloads

Shows a row for downloads. This row is only visible if you downloaded a movie either from your receiver by clicking on download when you selected a recording or if you downloaded a file from the internet using the download feature. Default: On

Show profile row

Shows a row with all profiles and option to add/remove a profile. A profile can be used if you have multiple receivers or want to access your receiver externally. Default: On

Show timeline button for channel tags

Shows a button to open the timeline view in each channel tag row. If you disable it, you can still open the timeline by pressing DOWN while playback. Default: On

Show list button for channel tags

Shows a button to open the channel selection view in each channel tag row. If you disable it, you can still open the channel selection view by pressing UP while playback. Default: On

Show list button for movies

Shows a button to open the movie list view in each recording row. If you disable it, you can still open the movie list view by pressing UP while playback of a recording. Default: On

Show channel/movie row in details

Shows an additional horizontal row with channels/recordings while playback in legacy menu. To enter it, click ENTER/OK twice while playback. Default: Off

Show pause symbol

Displays a big pause symbol while playback is paused. Default: On

Show small movie playbar

Shows a narrow version of the playbar while seeking in a movie/recording. If you disable it, the channel logo and name of the recording will be displayed. Default: On

Show channel tags on startup

Number of channel tag rows to display at startup. If you have more channel tag than configured, they will be displayed in single cards in one row and can be opened manually. To avoid slowdowns and memory issues, you should not display more than 10 channel tags. Default: 3

Show locations on startup

Number of recording/movie location rows to display at startup. If you have more locations than configured, they will be displayed in single cards in one row and can be opened manually. To avoid slowdowns and memory issues, you should not display more than 10 locations. Default: 3

Show program on channel start

Shows program info (now and next) when you start playing a channel in the bottom of the screen. After a configured timeout or by clicking BACK, the program info will be hidden. Default: On

Show program on event change

Shows program info (now and next) when the current event changes in the bottom of the screen. After a configured timeout or by clicking BACK, the program info will be hidden. Default: On

Program details duration

Timeout after the program details will be hidden. The program details are displayed when clicken ENTER/OK while playback. You can set this value to disabled to close the program details with BACK key.  Default: 7 seconds

Quick info duration

Timeout after the quick info will be hidden. The quick info is the now/next window displayed when a program starts and also used while seeking in a movie/recording. You can set this value to disabled to close the quick info with BACK key.  Default: 7 seconds

Time format

Time format used to display date and time within the app.  Default: Depending on your language selection.

Ask before closing video

Displays a confirmation dialog when clicking BACK while playing Live TV or a recording. Default: Off

Ask before closing app

Displays a confirmation dialog when clicking BACK while in overview. Default: Off (Recommended Android behaviour)

Use HbbTV when available

If HbbTV is available for a channel, the HbbTV color button is displayed.  Default: On

Show HbbTV row

Shows a predefined row of supported german HbbTV channels. Default: On (if german language is used)

Ask before closing HbbTV browser

Displays a confirmation dialog when clicking BACK multiple times while in HbbTV browser. Default: Off

HbbTV: Hide video in background

Stops the video playback in background while in HbbTV browser. Normally not necessary as video playback is detected and video is stopped. Only enable this if problems occur. Default: Off

Password protection

Use password protection

When enabled, you need to enter 4 keys in the right order and can select if you want to password protect settings and/or access to channel tags and recording locations. Default: Off

Change PIN

With this option you can change your PIN. Note that when you forget the PIN, the only way to access the app again is by deleting app data or reinstalling the app.

Protect settings

When enabled and password protection is active, you need to enter the PIN before opening settings. The PIN need to be entered only once while using the app. Default: On

Protect app start

When enabled and password protection is active, you need to enter the PIN when the app is started. The PIN need to be entered only once while using the app. Default: Off

Channel tags to protect

When enabled and password protection is active, you need to enter the PIN when one of the locked channel tags is selected. The PIN need to be entered only once while using the app. Note: You can also hide channel tags in view settings. Default: None selected

Directories / Recording locations to protect

When enabled and password protection is active, you need to enter the PIN when one of the locked locations/directories is selected. The PIN need to be entered only once while using the app. Note: You can also hide locations in recording settings (manage recording directories). Default: None selected

Timeline

Start in timeline view

Shows the timeline view when starting the app. Default: Off

Use transparency (TV View)

The timeline will ne be shown transparent/translucent in TV view. Default: Off

Row height

Height for timeline row. Default: Small

Font size

Font size for timeline row. Default: Small

Border

Border offset for timeline in pixels (x/y). Default: 50

Border (TV View)

Border offset for timeline in pixels (x/y) when displayed in TV view. Default: 50

Exclude / Hide channel tags

Exclude / Hide channel tags

Select channel tags to hide. Select All or None to change multiple. Note: You can also combine it with password protection option by restricting access to settings. Or show them and define them as password protected. See below. Default: All channel tags visible.

Live channel settings

Google Live Channels

The Google Live Channels app can be installed from Google Playstore and used as a separate playback app. After setting app the sources for the app, it can only be used as input channels for supported TVs (e.g. Philips TVs). As Live Channels has less features, it is recommended to use my native app instead.
On Google TV, Live Channels app can be installed but might not be visible. Use Live Channels Launcher to add this back again.
Note: Sony Bravia input app is not supported (ask Sony to support it).
Note: Amazon Fire TV Live TV is currently not supported as Amazon enables it only for 'selected' apps (ask Amazon to support it).

Consecutively numbered channels

If multiple channel tags are used, channel numbers are added consecutively instead of combining channel tag-channel number (e.g. 1-1, 2-1...) Default: On

Background EPG sync

Live channel EPG data is updated on a daily basis in the background. Default: On

Select channel tags

Selected channel tags will be imported in Live Channels app. After changing this setting, open Live Channels (can be opened with the first button in settings). Go to options - sources - add sources and select this app. Default: First channel tag

Sleep timer

Automatic sleep timer

You can define a time when the sleep timer should stop the stream and close the app while no key is pressed. Default: Off

Activate sleep timer

With the options you can immediately activate the sleep timer.

More settings

Update missing EPG

If EPG data is missing in the app, it is automatically updated. Default: On

Update time

Time when the background data update should be executed. At this time, the receiver and Android TV device should be on. If the Android TV device is off, it will be done after it is turned back on again. Default: 10 pm

Update movies

If enabled, recordings will be updated when data update is done. This is not recommended as it might wakeup your receivers harddrive. You can also refresh recordings by clicking on the refresh button in the recording directory row. Default: Off

Autostart app after boot

This option starts the app when you boot your Android TV or Fire TV. For Android 10 or later, this is not supported by Google. For a workaround, see FAQ. Default: Off

Autostart playback

You can select a channel and streaming automatically starts when you open the app. Default: Off

Use up/down to switch channels

Instead of LEFT/RIGHT you can use UP/DOWN to change channels in Live TV mode. If this is enabled, channel list will be opened with LEFT key and timeline with RIGHT key. Default: Off

Use voice control

You can use voice control if the device you use has a microphone and uses Amazon Alexa (Fire TVs) or Google Assistant. Either press the microphone button or activate the device with the codeword (e.g. Alexa, Echo, Hey Google...)

The following commands are then available:

Play / Resume / Play (to start playback from the overview or to resume from a paused recording)

Pause (to pause recordings, timeshift cannot be activated with this function)

Next (advances to the next channel on Live TV, or by 5 minutes on recordings)

Back (Switches to the previous channel for Live TV, and back by 5 minutes for recordings)

x minutes/seconds forward/backward (jumps the specified time within a recording, e.g. 5 minutes forward)

Default: On

Export data

Exports all app settings to a local file. You can import it in settings or when reinstalling the app. Note: Depending on Android version, the export file could be deleted when uninstalling the app. If you want to keep it, use a file manager to copy it.

 

Import data

Imports all app settings from a local file. Note: Will overwrite your current app settings.

Time zone

If you EPG times differ, make sure that the timezone configured on your receiver and on your Android TV device are identical. It is not sufficient that both devices show the same time. If your Android TV doesn't allow setting a timezone or you are in another timezone, use this setting to set it.

Enable debug log

If issues occur and upon request by support, you can enable debug logging. This will slow down the apps performance. Default: Off

Language

Change app language. Default: Device language (if supported, else English)

Picons / Channel logos

Show picons

Shows picons/channel logos if available. Default: On

Use picons from TVheadend server

If you have picons on your TVHeadend server and want to use them, please enable this option. These picons are then preferred over the downloaded picons. Default: Off

Download missing picons

If picons are not found on the receiver or the receiver option is disabled, picons are downloaded within the app. Default: On

Update only missing picons

If this option is enabled, only missing picons are updated when you select the 'Refresh now' button. If you experience issues or want to replace all picons, set this to Off. Default: On

Refresh now

Downloads and updates picons to the app.

Refresh data

Refresh data

Use this button to update channel tags and channel data manually.
